A Disappearing World

Deforestation

Sometimes described as the Earth’s lungs, the world’s rainforests are our greatest terrestrial source of air. They cover only 2% of the Earth’s surface but are home to two thirds of the planet’s species!

Yet tropical rainforests are being destroyed by humans at an alarming rate - about 100,000 acres a day. This is even more worrying when you consider that scientists agree rainforests are the world’s best natural defence against climate change.
